The UConn Ski Team is a student-run competitive alpine ski racing team dedicated to giving UConn students the opportunity to train, compete, and represent the university at a high level. Our athletes balance academics with practices, travel, and race weekends throughout the season, and we are incredibly proud of the program and community we have built.

Beginning this year, UConn Recreation will no longer provide funding for club sports. While this change does not affect our ability to compete or our status as a competitive ski team, it does create a significant financial challenge. In previous years, UConn Recreation contributed approximately $8,500 annually toward our program.

Our team will continue to train, travel, and compete just as we always have, including building on the success that brought us to become USCSA National Champions and have an overall successful performance this past season. However, without this funding, we must rely more heavily on fundraising, sponsorships, alumni, family, friends, and members of the UConn community to help cover expenses such as race fees, lodging, transportation, training, and equipment.

We are extremely grateful to continue receiving support from UConn Student Government, but fundraising has become more important than ever. Every donation, no matter the size, directly helps our athletes continue doing what they love and keeps competitive ski racing accessible to future generations of UConn students.

As we look toward the future, we are also working to strengthen our alumni community through new events and opportunities to reconnect, including ideas such as an alumni ski weekend, ski lessons for children, and barbecue events.

We are incredibly proud of how far this team has come, and we are excited about where it can go next. With the support of our alumni, families, friends, and community, we can continue building the UConn Ski Team and competing at the highest level for years to come.
